"You look pretty young"

I went to Putnam Lexus to test drive the new GS. I am generally a Honda fan myself, and the TV commercial didn't really say too much, but somehow I was intrigued enough to make a visit. I guess the commercial worked.

The salesperson took a copy of my driver's license as is customary, and off we went to the test vehicle.

I fiddled around with the seat adjustments and was getting acclimated with all the controls. While I was doing this, the salesperson said in a manner as if he was doing me a favor: "You know, we don't normally let people under 21 test drive cars. You're close, though. Really close."

I replied: "Huh? What do you mean I'm close?"

He thought about it for a second, and then the lightbulb finally lit in his head. "Oh, you're almost 30! You look pretty young."

I guess it's hard to subtract sometimes.
